4G in ski resorts to upload photos of our falls to the internet

In nobbot we already saw how workers of telecommunications operators ensure that we can always be connected, even under a snowstorm. In addition to this work, sometimes at risk, it is necessary to make strong investments to ensure the availability of the network, even if we can share our photos on Instagram by sliding down the track or the images of our falls, so Orange has allocated five million euros to its 4G service plan in ski resorts throughout Spain.

This plan guarantees coverage and capacity to meet the demand for service in the 25 most important ski resorts in the national territory, and involves the commissioning of 65 new 4G base stations, of which 54 are already in operation and the rest will be in the coming weeks.

4G in ski resorts with more than 1,100 kms skiable

Specifically, the stations that are benefiting from these improvements (and that add up to more than 1,100 kms skiable and an accumulated capacity of 436,000 skiers/hour), are the following:

  • Cantabrica Mountains: Alto Campoo, San Isidro, Valgrande Pajares, Manzaneda and Leitariegos.

  • Aragonese Pyrenees: Formigal-Panticosa, Cerler, Candanchu and Astun.

  • Catalan Pyrenees: Baqueira Beret, Masella, La Molina, Port del Comte, Boi-Taull, Port Aine, Espot Esqui, Vall de Nuria, Tavascan and Coll de Pal.

  • Central System: Valdesqui, La Pinilla and Puerto de Navacerrada.

  • Iberico System: Javalambre and Valdelinares.

  • Penibetic System: Sierra Nevada.

Laultima of the actions of this plan to provide 4G in ski resorts has been the commissioning of the third site dedicated to the Formigal-Panticosa Ski Resort, with the that the infrastructure provided in this location is completed to guarantee a perfect service both in the station itself and in its accesses.

To take the signal to all areas of the Formigal station, which includes, outside parking and service areas, 37 ski lifts with capacity for more than 50,000 skiers per hour and 146 tracks with a total length of 180 km, 3 base stations have been arranged with the maximum capacity in 4G technology, distributed throughout the ski resort area.

This this plan to provide 4G in ski resorts will allow Orange customers to know the status of any of the tracks in real time, recharge their ski pass online , share their photos and videos from any place and be connected at all times. Well, nothing, to jump down the hillside.
