Orange has set a new speed record for fiber optic navigation in Spain, reaching up to 10 Gbps symmetric (both down and up) thanks to XGSPON technology, at the Mobile World Congress from Barcelona. To carry out these tests, Orange installed the corresponding equipment on its stand and additionally will integrate this infrastructure into the network in service of the company. This way, the tests involve a pilot on a network in production , and not just about an isolated demo in a controlled environment.
new generation networks
Orange was the first operator in Spain to show 1.5 Gbps of mobile speed in October last year.On this occasion, Orange has reached Giga LTE speeds with the first commercial device in Spain. To this end, it has incorporated into its mobile network the latest technological advances on LTE-A (also called 4G +):
- Carrier aggregation in different frequency bands
- Modulation 256QAM, which allows you to send more bits in the same radio spectrum
- MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) 4 × 4 (4 paths in Transmission, 4 in Reception)
In this way, Orange again shows the great capacity of its new generation fiber optic and 4G + networks to adapt it to the future needs that its customers may demand in the digital environment , both in terms of speed and new services.
Augmented reality
Orange also showed at its stand the new commercial assistant in virtual reality , which will incorporate in its stores Smart Store of all Spain in the near future.Augmented reality (RA ) allows us to be present and communicate in the real world while we can add virtual information. This test at the MWC will show that the combination of real and virtual elements enriches the customer experience by improving the quality of communication and optimizing, therefore, attention at the point of sale.
For the occasion, Orange has developed a virtual commercial assistant, that will be used as a support for the marketing of "connected objects" (smartwatches, Smart TVs, drones, robots, remote control cars, scales, smartbands, etc.), that Orange already sells in all its channels to improve the daily life of its clients in areas such as health, leisure or household utilities.
In the demonstration this innovation was presented thanks to a live connection through the Giga LTE network with the first Smart Store in which it will be implemented; Orange's store in Madrid's Gran Via.It showed how the customer can see the wide variety of connected objects offered by Orange through a completely digital experience with a virtual agent, at the that is accessed through a tablet.
orange ADSL and 4G hybrid router
Finally, Orange showed attendees to these tests at the MWC the operation of its new hybrid router , a solution that uses the ADSL and 4G networks together in order to always ensure the Best connection speed available.Orange markets this autonomous service since January of this year, which allows you to enjoy Internet connection from day one, without having to install the ADSL.
This is a great solution for users who do not yet have a fiber connection, since they can enjoy the maximum speed that 4G technology allows, which Orange already offers 90.3% of the population with the ambition to reach at 95% at the end of 2017.
In addition, in the event of a possible breakdown of the ADSL service, the 4G connection would act as a backup, thus guaranteeing the continuity of the service, and all this, with the added advantage of the immediacy of use that this hybrid router allows, by having 4G connection from day one.
This hybrid router, which the customer can have for only € 9.90/month , is associated with the hiring of any of the Love Business -con rates 4G-fixed and mobile connection that Orange offers for this type of customer.
