New data on cell phone use in Spain: We speak an average of 91 minutes per month through the mobile phone, send 7 messages and consume 882 MB of data .The voice consumption, that the last three years had remained between 70-80 minutes, this year amounts to 91 minutes on average monthly. On the other hand, data consumption has increased, going from 636 MB on average in the first half of 2015 to 882 MB in the same period of 2016, which represents an increase of more than 38%.SMS sending continues to decline in the first half of 2016, probably due to the increasingly widespread use of services free instant messaging.
These are the main conclusions of a study conducted by MasMovil on consumption habits of more than 90,000 people in the first half of 2016.
Baleares, a talkative community
Baleares tops the ranking of the communities that speak the most , with an average of 101 minutes per month, followed by Murcia with an average of 100 minutes. These are followed by the Canary Islands with an average of 99 and Andalucia and Extremadura, both with an average of 98 minutes.
Between the different communities there are significant differences in the consumption of data through the mobile phone. This is reflected in the numbers that show that Balearic and Canary Islands occupy the first positions with an average of mobile internet consumption of more 1.3 GB.
Another interesting fact of this survey on the use of mobile phones in Spain, turns out to be that of La Rioja, since it is the community that has grown the most in its percentage of mobile data usage, reaching an average of 823 MB , which represents a considerable increase of 53% over the previous year.Cataluna has also increased its MB consumption by 49% in the same period.
Islander SMS
Balearic and Canary Islands are also at the head of the autonomous communities where SMS is most used , with an average of 11 monthly text messages in the Canary Islands and 9 in the Balearic Islands.Opposite pole users of La Rioja and Cantabria stand with an average of 5 SMS per month.
In general, women talk more and send more SMS, but navigate from the smartphone less than men.
differences by gender and age
As can be seen in the study on cell phone use in Spain, consumption differences are also reflected by gender. It is appreciated that women behave as users more active than men in the use of voice in mobile telephony : in 2016 they speak 11% more than they do, compared to 9% of this difference in 2015.
They also send more SMS than they do, however, the use of mobile data in the female sector is 41 MB less than in the male sector .As for men, the amount of data consumed has grown by 35% over the previous period, establishing the average consumption above 800 MB per month.
Another of the interesting conclusions that can be drawn from the study on cell phone use in Spain is that the most active age group in voice consumption is the one between 25 and 35 years of age with 123 minutes of average .Children under 15 years of age are those who consume the least minutes on calls (37 minutes per month). The highest data consumption is recorded in the age range between 15 and 20 years with an average of 1,343 MB per month.
