Orange expands its mobile network in tourist areas, means of transport and rural areas

During the first half of 2017, Orange has undertaken three new plans to reinforce its mobile network to offer the best connectivity experience to its customers in tourist areas, means of transport and rural areas.


As for tourist areas , the company has developed 375 expansions of capacity in its network stations with a total investment of 21.4 million euros to respond to the largest increase in traffic that will occur at this time in these locations.This figure includes some 9.8 million euros, to intensify its 4G deployment in municipalities with holiday profile of up to 2,000 inhabitants and 11.6 million euros , to resize its network, in order to respond to the additional demand for connectivity derived from the new European Union rules on roaming.

Regarding means of transport , and as an important milestone, the company has deployed 4G on line 3 of the Bilbao metro and has provided this line of 2G services , 3G and 4G as well as the rest of the Metro Bilbao lines.


The company has also increased its 4G coverage in the Barcelona metro with the deployment of its network in all lines 1 and 3 of the metro and 50% of line 2, as well as in the suburban line that joins the Plaza de Espanya with Cornella.During this year, the company will finish the deployment on all lines of the city's transport network and metropolitan area.


On the other hand, Orange will also finish, in the remainder of 2017, the coverage in the Valencia and Granada meters , in addition to the neighborhoods of Seville, Malaga, Valencia and Madrid . To this transport means plan Orange has dedicated a total investment of 4.1 million euros


This investment in the 4G network deployment is part of the 1.5 billion euros that the company is investing throughout Spain in this technology, with the aim of exceeding 95% coverage at the end of 2017.


9 million to improve coverage in rural areas


Finally, Orange has proposed to increase its coverage also in rural areas and, to this end, it has already deployed 99 sites of new coverage , in towns such as Creixell (Cataluna), Getaria (Basque Country) , Bellreguard (Valencian Community), Yaiza (Canary Islands), O Porrino (Galicia), San Clemente (Castilla la Mancha) or Penafiel (Castilla y Leon). Orange has allocated 9 million euros for this new coverage that will continue to develop in the coming months.
