Orange prepares its network for the Internet of things

Orange has completed the first end-to-end data connection in the new LTE-M technology on its commercial mobile radio network with an IoT solution, using commercial devices and platforms compatible with this technology. This is a new step in the path of the development of the Internet of Things (IoT, Internet of Things) ecosystem, which will mean a new industrial revolution, now on the web.

LTE-M IN THE COMMERCIAL NETWORK

Supported in the technology of mobile network packet core virtualized and Ericsson radio, and with the Aragonese company Telnet as a provider of the complete solution IoT with compatible devices LTE-M, Orange has made connected the first connection of data in its network This is the commissioning of an energy efficiency system based on the Babel Gate IoT commercial gateway with Intel Atom technology and the Energy Minus + data processing platform , through the use of probes of temperature and humidity together with a power consumption meter, in its central offices in Madrid , sending the data in real time to the external management platform through its own mobile network LTE-M.

The LTE-M technology has a better performance, a higher level of standardization, robustness, scalability and security for working in licensed frequency bands; In addition, it is a global standard that surpasses other IoT technology options for the development of IoT ecosystems with economies of scale, ensuring interoperability, which is why the Orange group has chosen LTE-M technology for progressive deployment in its 4G networks in Europe , starting with Belgium and Spain this year, with the aim of continuing with the rest of its network in Europe.

internet of things

Orange continues to take firm steps in its strategy to develop an Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem, as already announced during the past MWC in Barcelona, when I bet on LTE-M technology, and will continue to use it in collaboration with customers and manufacturers of IoT solutions to support the greatest number of uses, connecting in a safe and scalable way a wide variety of devices: smart water, gas or electricity meters; services for the development of smart cities, such as parking management, efficient lighting management or waste collection; asset monitoring; Vending Vending Machine Management; payment methods; security and alarm systems; or vehicle fleets, among others.

This first step is the result of the agreement signed by Orange and Ericsson, which will activate a large number of LTE-M mobile use cases for the Internet of Things (IoT) in a true open ecosystem within the 3GPP standard. In this case, Ericsson provides its Radio-Massive IoT RAN-technology and its virtualized core technology, which will allow the Internet of Things (IoT) to offer a response to a massive number of devices and the diversity of connectivity requirements on the current LTE network.

The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a great opportunity, both for operators and for companies, and is becoming a key factor in the sector for the development of new types of services and applications, the attraction of new business models and the creation of new markets.

Tecnophobia in the era of web 3.0, why?

Social media addict, willing to stand in line for hours to acquire the latest iPhone model that has gone on the market, geek of the cackling and lover of everything related to smart devices.more than one is familiar with this profile; a true technophile who has endorsed the boom that this sector has experienced over the past few years. However, it is not the only type of user that was born with the famous development of this sector, but it has also been done by another who points to the opposite side: the technophobic .We are referring to those who have a more complicated relationship with this discipline and who even have come to fear it .But how to identify them? What are the reasons for their fear? Today we address these and other issues. What is technobophy It is considered technophobia to rejection of progress in the technology sector , fear of progress and its supposed consequences, which can lead to ecological, social, ethical and health problems (precisely its argumen...
