Facebook has trouble detecting hate speech on its network

Facebook has released for the first time the figures of publications and accounts that it has blocked due to inappropriate content such as 'pam' or terrorist propaganda, ensuring that it has eliminated 583 million false accounts and 837 million during the first quarter of the year.of unwanted messages , according to Europa Press.Facebook has issued a report on compliance with the rules of its community that is divided into six areas: terrorist propaganda, graphic violence, adult nudes and sexual content, spam, hate messages and fake accounts , as the company has explained through its official blog.

The social network run by Mark Zuckerberg removed 21 million posts of sexual and nude content in adults in the first quarter of 2018 , 96% of these detected and removed by Facebook technology.Every 10,000 pieces of content displayed on the social network, there are between 7 and 9 that include content that violates your policies.


In relation to graphic violence, during the first quarter of the year, approximately 3.5 million posts of violent content were removed or issued a warning, 86% of them detected by Facebook before being denounced.


The social network also reaches conclusions in its report, ensuring that its technology works with less effectiveness in terms of hate speech, since of the 2.5 million contents that fail to comply with the rules in this regard, only 38% was detected by Facebook .

The report covers the period of rules established between October 2017 and March 2018, and reflects that the social network deleted 837 million unwanted messages during the first quarter of 2018, almost 100% of them found and deleted before users reported them .During the first quarter of the year 583 million fake accounts were deactivated, most within a few minutes of registration , according to Facebook.
